Aiming to provide the best opportunities for students in the performing arts, Guilford Young College engaged Luttrell Pyefinch to design their creative arts centre to house music, drama and dance departments. As one of the only theatres in the state featuring a full-sized stage and full-scale fly tower, the theatre fast became considered one of the best in Tasmania and is utilised not just by the students but by Theatre Royal and other community groups.

An undulating facade in two shades of glazed brick playfully interacts with the landscape, inspired by the movement of water through the site’s former historic flour mill. The sinuous foyer connects to the Bosco gymnasium providing a large informal gallery space for socialising and the display of student artworks during events.
