Sacred Heart College embarked upon a significant re-imagining of their library in 2006. As a growing, centrally located school on a tight suburban site, Luttrell Pyefinch saw an opportunity for the College to double its floor area, without adding any significant height to street frontages. Through their creative infill strategy the resulting Library space conjoined three major site buildings to form a central and enlivened research hub.

The library features integrated library hubs as mezzanines, and a mix of quiet and shared spaces allowing for flexible program delivery and private study. Natural light fills the two storey volume, with extensive timber detailing, custom in-house carpet design and an Eames-inspired screen giving warmth and texture to the reading room.
