Sacred Heart College’s need for a new locker space provided an opportunity to give the college’s common space a refresh. Luttrell Pyefinch’s design solution provides a soft backdrop of natural materials with terazzo flooring and timber lining contrasting against bright, graphic surfaces and textures. The timber grain on the two adjacent stairways creates a dynamic look that simultaneously ties the three spaces together and implies movement through and around this busy space. The space not only provides amenity for the students, but a pleasant, light-filled walkway, with comfortable incidental gathering spaces.
